As a result of the tremendous support from the community, the 2010 Houston Celebration of Reading on April 22, 2010 raised over $1.9 million. We appreciate our authors who helped us celebrate reading, AJ Jacobs, Mary Karr, Kathryn Stockett and Greg Kincaid.

Condoleezza Rice

Condoleezza Rice, former National Securtiy Advisor and Secretary of State, has agreed to a three-book deal with Crown Publishers, starting with a memoir about her years in the administration of President George W. The first and yet unnamed memoir is due out in 2011, and will combine candid narrative and acute analysis about her time in the White House and as America's top diplomat, expanding on her role in protecting American security and shaping foreign policy during the extraordinary period from 2001-2009.
